The Holidays: Family Get Togethers

Where We’ve Been… in the past

Ruidoso, NM

Ruidoso, NM is located near to the infamous UFO Crash site in New Mexico, Roswell. With only about an hour and half drive from Roswell, you can enjoy the views of the mountains, trees, sometimes clear skies (if it’s not raining or snowing… or storming bad). But this is what we did while we were in Ruidoso, NM for 2 family vacations.

Winter 2011 (+/- a year or two)

The first time my mom’s side of the family (2 aunts and an uncle, 6 cousins) we stayed in a place that looked a lot like apartments. The way it was setup felt more like you could live there on a month-to-month basis. We were there for about 8 days, and so we had the town at our disposal… sort of. There are things to do like wine tasting, shopping, bars, clubs, bowling… they even have their own Casino and Resort called Inn of the Mountain Gods which has some of the best mixed drinks in the area!!! Also, there was a place called “Sanctuary on the River” which housed their own hydroponics and catered to weddings and unique events… and when they were still around, they were gay friendly, like most of New Mexico is.

Winter 2015

This was an exciting time for all of us. We came back for a second round and found out that a lot has changed from the first time we came in 2011. There was hardly any snow, however, there was a lot of rain and sleet and one day HAIL. We also went on a hike up a place called Moon Mountain, which was an adventure. We had fun, we played games, told stories, made up a few cool games and then realized that my cousin’s husband has little man syndrome, he has “all the answers”.

What’s Next?

I am working on a few more posts for the year 2021, because I will be having a newborn nephew soon and that will take up most of my time while I get to spend time with him, and so I will return after I post the third post for 2021!
